Treatment for thrush may come in a variety of forms from your doctor. It may be necessary to take an anti fungal pill, or use a rinse that you swish and swallow to treat the yeast. Some of these medications may be hard on your liver so if you have other health conditions it may not be possible to use these medications at all, or you may have to take them for a shorter period of time.
If this is the case, or you are prone to having frequent thrush symptoms you may need to look at natural alternatives for treatment. Eating more yogurt and taking acidophilus supplements daily is a good first step to helping your body boost its own natural defenses against candida
Thrush can be identified by its painful, cottage cheese appearing white lesions that form on the inside of the cheeks and tongue. There may be a burning sensation in the mouth and throat early in the infection. These lesions may also bleed when scraped. Oral thrush can spread to the roof of the mouth, the throat and tonsils if not treated properly. Thrush may cause your mouth to feel like it has a thick coating inside it and you may lose your sense of taste temporarily.

Using natural oral care products to help eliminate bacteria and fungus like thrush may also be helpful. Natural peppermint and spearmint oils can be used to help eliminate candida fungus from the body, and when used regularly may help prevent a future outbreak. A warm salt-water rinse may also help to reduce some of the soreness and irritation caused by the patches but should be spit out after rinsing.
