OraMD - The Mouth Doctor - The All-Natural Toothpaste and Mouthwash
Pharmaceutical VS Natural Oral Thrush TreatmentsWhen you have oral thrush, there are two major kinds of treatments that you can choose between: pharmaceutical and natural. Both kinds of treatments are generally effective, but each has certain advantages and potential disadvantages. Depending on the severity of the oral thrush and your own medical history, there are treatments that are more appropriate than others. Pharmaceutical treatments may be bought either over the counter following counselling by a pharmacist, or there are other treatments that are available exclusively on prescription. These treatments are generally antifungal agents that kill off the fungus that is causing the condition or prevent the fungus from multiplying, therefore causing it to die off. There are various antifungal medications that are available in different forms to eradicate oral thrush. You can find drops, mouth wash, lozenges and oral tablets with an appropriate antifungal agent. The advantages of antifungal medications are that they tend to work quickly and are generally very effective at killing of the Candida and clearing up the symptoms. Some people do not like the idea of using pharmaceuticals, or are unable to do so because of other health conditions that are contraindicated with antifungal preparations. For example, some antifungal preparations are not suitable for use during pregnancy. Natural oral thrush treatments do not usually have the risk of side effects that some pharmaceutical medications may have. Natural preparations and treatments are generally well tolerated by everybody and can also be used long term for prevention too. The downside to natural preparations is that sometimes they may not be powerful enough to totally eradicate the thrush and you may have to undergo treatment again if the symptoms recur. Alternatively, the treatment may be effective, but take a little longer to do the job. Whichever type of oral thrush treatment you opt for, you should make sure that you start a treatment as soon as you notice the symptoms occurring. If you delay treatment, you may find that the condition gets worse and spreads down into the throat. Once it has spread further, then it will take much longer for the condition to be cleared up. It is always a good idea to talk to your doctor about health conditions and get treatment that has been recommended by them. Even if you would like to try a natural treatment before trying a pharmaceutical one, they can offer you advice that results in quicker eradication of the oral thrush.
