Gum Sores – An Indication or Sign of Gum DiseaseYou are brushing your teeth and notice a small bump on your gums. You look at it closer. It is not sore or large. Maybe, you pricked your gum with a fork at lunch, maybe not. Gum sores can be innocent fork or toothpick pricks. They can also be signs of gum disease. What is Gum Disease? Gum disease consists of two stages: gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the early stage and the easiest to cure. Periodontitis is the later stage. The remedy for this form of gum disease is not as simple. It will involve surgery, tooth removal, and other dental work. Signs of Gum Disease
The above are signs you have gum disease. Do not disregard them. Preventing Gum Disease While there is no cure for periodontitis, you can prevent it from returning. After remedial surgery, your dentist will suggest ways to prevent a reoccurrence. This will include a system of oral hygiene. In other words, preventing either form of gum disease is as simple as putting into place a proper method for removing all food sources for bacteria. Proper Oral Hygiene
Be sure to talk to your doctor about a healthy diet and avoid sweet, sticky foods. Arrange for an annual check-up with your dentist and a visit for a cleaning with your dentist or oral hygienist. These will help you keep your teeth clean and safe from gum sores and gum disease. Conclusion
