As we get older, we know that it becomes more important than ever that we take good care of our mouths. Problems like gingivitis and periodontal disease are more prevalent as we age, and many of us tend to step up our dental routines, as we get a bit older.

But, you might be surprised to learn that one of the best things you can do for your dental routine is to give up fluoride. Though most of us have used toothpaste with fluoride for our entire lives, it may be something that we want to stop doing.

Many recent studies have linked fluoride with several health problems, including hypothyroidism, arthritis, headaches and neurological problems. There have even been links between fluoride and some forms of cancer. We know that as we get older, we are more prone to conditions like these anyway. We certainly don’t want to increase our risk by using fluoride.

As adults, there’s no real benefit to the use of fluoride anyway. Studies have shown time and again that fluoride does not significantly reduce cavities in adults. As we get older, gingivitis and periodontal disease are far more likely to plaque us than cavities.

If you’re ready to make the switch from fluoride toothpaste, consider one that is all natural, too. This will ensure that it is detergent free, as well. Detergents, like sodium laurel sulfate, are rampant in commercial toothpastes. They provide no real benefit, except to make the toothpaste foam, and they can cause canker sores and irritation in many people. Commercial toothpastes also often contain saccharin, which has been linked to cancer in lab rats.

Look for all natural toothpastes made with mint oils, like peppermint. Mint offers powerful anti-bacterial properties, which is just what we need to prevent gingivitis and periodontal disease. You can even find single products that can act as both toothpaste and mouthwash, reducing the number of products you have to buy.

As we get older, it becomes more important than ever to protect our health. Anytime we can use all natural products and eliminate the artificial ingredients we put in our bodies, it is likely to the benefit of our bodies to do so. So, take the plunge and swap that fluoride toothpaste for an all natural, fluoride free variety of toothpaste. You have only your improved health to gain.

Over the years, there has been much talk about the importance of fluoride in preventing cavities in children. Today, however, that logic is coming into question as new information is being discovered about fluoride.

It turns out that using fluoride may not be the best thing for your kids. While it is true that fluoride is most effective during childhood, when teeth are still hardening, the potential side effects of using fluoride are calling its safety into question.

For example, we already know that fluoride is unsafe for children under the age of two, and that it should be used in very small quantities until a child reaches at least eight years of age. This is because fluoride has the potential to be toxic. We also know that too much fluoride can cause a child’s teeth to turn gray and unsightly.

We are learning more about side effects of fluoride, and they may make us, as parents, determine that we don’t believe the benefits of using fluoride to be worth risking those potential side effects.

Fluoride has been linked to hypothyroidism, one of the biggest problems in the US. The incidence of hypothyroidism has risen dramatically since fluoride in toothpaste and water became mainstream. Hypothyroidism causes the thyroid to under act, which contributes to weight gain. It is thought that the surge in hypothyroidism has contributed to the country’s obesity problem.

In addition to hypothyroidism, fluoride has also been linked to cancer, headaches, low IQ in children, neurological problems and arthritis. With side effects like these, it’s easy to see why many parents are choosing to avoid fluoride for their kids.

It is important to ensure that your children have a diligent oral hygiene routine, especially if you plan to take them off fluoride. This includes brushing, flossing, and rinsing multiple times each day with anti-bacterial products. You should also ensure that your children avoid sugar and that they brush immediately when they do consume sugar. This is especially important after they drink soda, which contains acid that weakens tooth enamel in addition to sugar.

All parents want to give their kids the very best. And, for many years, we believed that we were giving them the best by ensuring that they used toothpaste with fluoride and that they drank fluoridated water. Now, however, we may be learning that taking them off fluoride may be the best thing we can do for them.

Fluoride has been hailed as the treatment of choice for cavity prevention for many years. Fluoride has been hailed as so powerful that even our water is treated with it. But, as we learn more about fluoride, we’re learning that we might be better off without it.

Fluoride is associated with a multitude of health problems. It is toxic in high quantities and has been shown to cause hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid. It has also been linked to cancer, headaches, arthritis, neurological problems and low IQ in children.

And, to top off its dangers, research has also shown that it isn’t really as effective in preventing cavities as was first thought.

For the sake of our health, we may all want to switch to fluoride free toothpaste and stop drinking fluoridated water. Both are fairly simple to do, and there’s really no reason to hesitate. It has been shown again and again that adults do not need fluoride, and even children are likely exposed to enough fluoride in the water they drink when they’re away from home to provide any benefit that they might gain from some added fluoride.

Switching to fluoride free toothpaste is easy. There are many all-natural brands on the market that have no fluoride or added artificial ingredients, like detergents. Some of the best are those that are made from oil of mint, since it has powerful anti-bacterial properties without any artificial ingredients or side effects. In the long run, these toothpastes are much healthier for your mouth and provide just as much protection from dental problems as their fluoridated counterparts. It is, of course, important to take good care of your teeth with good hygiene at home and regular dental visits.

Switching to non-fluoridated water is a little more inconvenient, but is still absolutely achievable. A reverse osmosis system can filter the fluoride, along with a lot of other harmful agents, from your tap water. Or, you can elect to drink bottled water instead. Just be certain that you choose the right bottled water, as some has fluoride added.

Based on recent research, there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that we’ve nothing to gain and much to lose by using toothpaste and water with added fluoride. It may well turn out that the best thing you can do for your family’s health is to “just say no” when it comes to fluoride in your toothpaste and in your drinking water.

You may recently have heard a lot of “hype” about people switching from their toothpastes with fluoride to “fluoride free” toothpaste.

It’s not just hype. There are plenty of reasons why it’s a good idea to switch your entire family to fluoride free toothpaste. Did you know that fluoride is linked to:

Hypothyroidism

Cancer

Low IQ in Children

Neurological problems

Headaches

Arthritis?

In addition, it has been shown that large quantities of fluoride over a short period of time can be toxic. However, there is little research to indicate the toxicity levels when fluoride is ingested in small amounts over a long period of time, such as when we brush with fluoride toothpaste and drink fluoridated water for a number of years.

The information that we do have makes it pretty clear that, for the sake of our health, we should switch to fluoride free toothpaste. Especially since other recent studies have indicated that fluoride isn’t really all that effective in preventing cavities, anyway.

If you’re ready to make the switch to fluoride free toothpaste, there are many products you can use, though you’re not likely to find them on the shelf at your grocer or your drug store.

Some of the best fluoride free toothpaste is mint oil based. This is because mint oil is one of the very best anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agents. It is highly effective at killing the bacteria that leads to cavities and to gingivitis. Mint also happens to be one of the very best products for keeping bad breath at bay, too. It essentially sanitizes your mouth.

Switching from fluoride toothpastes to those that are fluoride free is one of the best things you can do for your family’s health.

By choosing all natural alternatives to traditional fluoride toothpastes, you will not be sacrificing cavity-fighting protection, so long as you have a good oral hygiene routine. Brushing, flossing and rinsing with an anti-bacterial mouthwash several times a day is important because it keeps your mouth free of the bacteria that lead to most dental problems. It is also important to limit sugars, particularly sugary sodas. Soda contains acid, which weakens tooth enamel. Eat a balanced diet that includes plenty of calcium to strengthen your teeth. With a good oral hygiene routine using products made from oil of mint, you can avoid cavities and avoid the potentially dangerous side effects of using products made with fluoride.

For many years, most of us have used fluoride toothpastes without question. But, there’s plenty of evidence now to suggest that this might not have been the best decision for our health.

We’ve known for years that fluoride can be toxic in large quantities. But, newer evidence is suggesting that it may also cause health problems even when used in more moderate quantities.

Most of us are getting a fair amount of exposure to fluoride between our uses of fluoride toothpastes and drinking fluoridated water. Recent research has shown that fluoride use may not prevent cavities the way we once thought and that it likely poses other health risks, as well.

Fluoride has been linked to several health problems, including hypothyroidism, which has reached epidemic proportions in the US. Hypothyroidism causes weight gain, and is linked to the rising obesity rate in the US. Fluoride has long been known for its ability to suppress thyroid function. In fact, fluoride is even used as a treatment for an overactive thyroid.

Other health problems that have been linked to the use of fluoride include arthritis, headaches, neurological problems and low IQ in children.

Research is ongoing about the long term effects of using fluoride. But, many experts believe that, as time goes on, we will find more and more ill effects from the use of fluoride and less evidence to support its true effectiveness in fighting cavities.

If you’re ready to make the switch to fluoride free toothpaste, there are plenty of all-natural products you can use. Those made with oil of mint are especially effective in keeping the mouth free of bacteria. These products do a great job of preventing cavities, since bacteria is one of the primary sources of all dental problems, including cavities.

It is important to have a good oral hygiene routine. Regular brushing and flossing, along with rinsing with an anti-bacterial mouthwash all contribute to a clean and healthy mouth. Limiting sugar and sodas, which contain acid that erodes enamel, will also help to prevent cavities.

To completely eliminate fluoride from your body, you will likely also need to address your drinking water. You can filter out the fluoride from your tap water with a reverse osmosis filter, or you can drink bottled water instead of tap water. Beware, however, that some bottled waters do contain fluoride, so be sure to do your research before you buy.

Do you ever wonder if you choose the same products for your family that your doctors choose for theirs? When it comes to toothpaste, there’s a good chance that you’re not buying what your healthcare professionals choose.

Many healthcare professionals and people outside the healthcare industry are moving away from the use of toothpastes that contain fluoride, for fear of the safety of ingesting fluoride.

In recent years, studies have indicated that fluoride may be less safe and far less effective than was previously thought. There’s evidence that fluoride does not prevent cavities as much as we believed, and there’s even more evidence that it may be unsafe.

Fluoride has been linked to many health issues, including hypothyroidism, neurological problems, headaches, arthritis, and low IQ in children. We know that it is toxic in high quantities, and that it is unsafe for children under two.

All of these facts have led many healthcare professionals to switch to all natural, fluoride free toothpastes for their own families. Considering the questionable effectiveness of fluoride, there simply may be no benefit in taking the risks associated with using the product.

If you’re ready to follow the growing trend of moving away from fluoride in your toothpaste, there are plenty of products to choose from. Some of the best are made from all natural ingredients like mint and almond oil. These products provide superior cleaning and anti-bacterial properties without the harmful ingredients. They do a great job of fighting cavities and preventing gingivitis.

You’ll probably be amazed at how great your mouth feels when you switch to natural dental care products. Because they contain no additives, they contain more of the products that really make your mouth feel and taste clean and fresh after brushing. The fresh feeling often lasts longer when you use natural products, too.

You can find all natural, fluoride free oral care products through natural food stores and some online companies, too. Many of them are highly concentrated, so you only need to use a little to get a clean mouth. And, some of them can even double as mouthwash, reducing the number of dental care products you have to buy.

So, ask your doctor which toothpaste he buys for his family. There’s a very good chance he’ll tell you that there’s a fluoride free toothpaste in his medicine cabinet at home.

In recent years, you may have heard that using fluoride free toothpaste is actually better for you than using toothpaste with fluoride. This might surprise you, since we’ve heard all our lives that we need fluoride to prevent cavities.

But, there’s a lot of new data out there since those early studies indicating that fluoride was necessary for cavity prevention. Today’s studies indicate that fluoride actually does little or nothing to prevent cavities, even in children. And, in addition to its ineffectiveness in cavity prevention, it may pose serious health risks.

Fluoride has been shown to be toxic when ingested in large amounts over a short period of time. But, little research has been done on its toxicity when ingested in small amounts over a long period of time, as is the case when we drink fluoridated water and use fluoride toothpaste for many years. Studies have, however shown a link between fluoride and several health issues.

We know that fluoride reduces the functionality of the thyroid. In the years since water has become widely fluoridated in the US, the incidence of hypothyroidism has reached epidemic proportion. This has likely seriously affected the obesity epidemic in the US, since an underactive thyroid causes weight gain. Fluoride is so effective at slowing down the thyroid gland that it is the primary treatment for an overactive thyroid.

Fluoride has also been linked to other health ills, including neurological problems, cancer, arthritis, low IQ in children and headaches.

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that switching to fluoride free toothpaste is the best thing for your family’s health. Even if your family is getting some cavity preventing benefit from the fluoride, the health risks would outweigh these benefits. And, there are other ways to prevent cavities besides the use of fluoride. Here are some suggestions to help keep your family’s mouth clean and cavity free without resorting to fluoride.

Brush, floss and rinse with anti-bacterial mouthwash several times a day.

Chew gum with xylitol. Xylitol has been shown to actually be able to begin repair of minor cavities. It also helps keep saliva flowing through the mouth, which helps remove acid from the teeth.

Avoid sugar. All sugars are bad for the teeth. Avoid eating them, and when you do eat sugar, brush your teeth immediately afterward. Avoid sodas, too. They not only contain sugar, but they also contain acid that erodes tooth enamel.

Switch to all natural dental care products made with oil of mint. This ensures that you have maximum anti-bacterial protection for keeping your mouth clean and free of cavities.

If you’re an adult who is still using fluoride toothpaste, it’s time to wake up. Recent research has given us reason to have second thoughts about all the fluoride we’re putting in our bodies in the form of toothpaste and fluoridated water. Some of us are even using mouthwash with fluoride.

It turns out that, for adults, there may be no good reason to use fluoride toothpaste, and plenty of reasons to stop using it.

You see, recent studies have shown that fluoride is not really as effective as was first believed in preventing cavities, especially in adults. In fact, several studies have concluded that there is no reason for adults to use fluoride toothpaste.

In addition, there have been studies that have found links between fluoride and several health concerns. For example, fluoride slows the thyroid function and contributes to hypothyroidism. In fact, doctors are so convinced that fluoride slows the thyroid that they use it to treat patients whose thyroid is overactive.

In addition, fluoride has been linked to headaches, low IQ in children, arthritis and neurological problems. There are even links between fluoride and some forms of cancer.

If you’re still using fluoride toothpaste, this information should be just the motivation you need to make the change to fluoride free toothpaste. There are plenty of alternatives on the market, including products made from all natural oils, like those from peppermint and almonds. These products address the most common dental problem in adults quite well.

Adults should be far more worried about preventing gingivitis than about preventing cavities, anyway. Gingivitis is the number one dental concern and affects nearly everyone at one time or another. Gingivitis is caused when we fail to remove all the bacteria from our mouth, allowing it to harden into plaque. Natural oils like those from almonds and mint provide powerful anti-bacterial effects, killing the germs that cause gingivitis. And, since they’re all natural, they contain none of the artificial ingredients you’ll find in commercial toothpastes.

As adults, the only cavity protection we need is a clean mouth. Brush, floss, and rinse several times a day with anti-bacterial products to prevent cavities and gingivitis. Visit your dentist twice a year for professional cleanings and checkups. And, make the switch to all natural products that are free from fluoride and other artificial ingredients. Your mouth, and the rest of your body, will thank you.

If you’re like most people, you’ve been using toothpaste with fluoride for years without question. Well, we’re about to make you question that decision, and encourage you to ditch the fluoride for fluoride free toothpaste.

First of all, recent research has indicated that fluoride really does little to prevent cavities. All these years we may have been using it for nothing. There is some potential that it has some benefit in children, whose teeth are still hardening, but there is certainly no overwhelming evidence that even kids are seeing any real benefit.

There is also growing evidence that fluoride contributes to a wide range of health problems. We know that fluoride is toxic when ingested in large amounts over a short period of time. Little research has been done to measure the toxicity of fluoride in small amounts over a long period of time, however. Yet, most of us ingest small amounts of fluoride every day over our entire lives between the fluoridated water we drink and the toothpaste we use. We may be creating some serious health consequences down the road.

We do know that fluoride is linked to hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid. Hypothyroidism has reached epidemic proportions in the US, and is a big contributor to the obesity epidemic, too. When you have an underactive thyroid, it is much easier to gain weight. There is no question that fluoride slows down the thyroid gland. Fluoride is, in fact, the most common treatment for an overactive thyroid.

Fluoride is also linked to a number of other health concerns, including arthritis, headaches, low IQ in children, neurological problems and even cancer. And, these are just the things we know about. It’s highly likely that there are even more potential hazards from fluoride that we don’t even yet know about.

There are plenty of great alternatives to using fluoridated toothpaste. All natural oil of mint based products provide great cleaning and germ killing ability without the use of fluoride or the detergents found in commercial toothpaste. Mint oil is one of the most powerful anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agents in the world, and it is completely natural and safe.

So, don’t trust your family’s health to commercial dental care products with fluoride. Choose one of the fluoride free toothpastes that can promise to keep your mouth germ free without exposing you to the potentially harmful side effects of using fluoride.

Most Americans would never consider swapping their regular toothpaste for fluoride free toothpaste. After all, our dentists have told us for years that brushing with fluoride is the best way to prevent cavities. Even our water is fluoridated.

So, it stands to reason that most people will be surprised to hear that using a fluoride free toothpaste is actually a better choice for your health. Most people will also be surprised to find out that they likely haven’t needed the fluoride they’ve been using for years.

There is some measure of truth to the idea that fluoride is effective at helping prevent cavities in children. Children’s teeth are still hardening, and fluoride is somewhat effective for them. Adults, however, simply do not need fluoride in their toothpaste or their water.

There are several health risks associated with the use of fluoride. Fluoride is known to contribute to hypothyroidism, a condition that has reached epidemic proportions in the US. Hypothyroidism causes weight gain. In fact, fluoride is so good at inhibiting the function of the thyroid gland that it is actually used as a treatment for hyperthyroidism, or overactive thyroid.

Fluoride has also been associated with other health problems, including headaches, arthritis, neurological problems and low IQ in children. In large doses, it is toxic.

So, even if fluoride is effective at preventing cavities, the health risks are simply not worth it. Especially when you consider the fact that there are other ways to prevent cavities.

If you choose to swap out your regular toothpaste for fluoride free toothpaste, you can still have a very healthy mouth. Brush, floss and rinse with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal mouthwash several times a day. Chew gum sweetened with xylitol to help prevent cavities and heal small cavities that have started. And, be certain to minimize your sugar intake, particularly your intake of sodas and fruit juices. Both contain acid that weakens tooth enamel.

Choose your new, fluoride free toothpaste from one of many that are mint oil based. Mint oil is one of the best all natural anti-bacterial agents you can buy, so it will do a great job of ridding your mouth of the bacteria that is at the root of most dental problems.

Once you’ve tried fluoride free toothpaste, you’ll never want to go back to products that are loaded with fluoride and the other additives found in commercial toothpaste. You’re sure to agree that fluoride free is better than fluoride every time.
