Regular brushing may not reach some areas of the teeth and gums, that is why flossing is necessary to prevent the build-up of bacteria that can cause periodontal disease. Researchers even found out that the mouths of those who flossed had significantly less bacterial plaque. They did it by comparing 51 sets of twins between the ages of 12 and 32. The only difference between the groups was that flossing was added to a regimen of daily brushing with a manual toothbrush and toothpaste. The study illustrates the impact flossing can have on oral health. Twins tend to share the same or similar environmental factors such as dietary habits, health and life practices, as well as genetics. In this case, the only difference was flossing, and the outcome was significant. Flossing may significantly reduce the amount of bad bacteria in the mouth. Indeed, flossing against periodontal disease is a good fight.

Having bad breath gives way to a person's lack of self-confidence and isolation. While bad breath is not a common cause of embarrassments and sufferings, it can be a hot subject of gossip and feedbacks. Before you find yourself moving inside the shell, take time to consider a few things that kill the mood like bad breath! The very basic thing to do is to make a habit of superior oral hygiene through regular brushing and flossing. While brushing and flossing your teeth, don't forget your tongue the fact that it can trap food particles that lead to bad breath. Sometimes brushing doesn't do the trick so get a water pick to get those places your brush can't. Chewing lots of gum will keep bad breath at bay as it produces saliva, which washes out the bacteria in your mouth. Drink more water as water is like saliva that washes away the bacteria in your mouth. If you are on a low carb diet, splurge once in a while. Sometimes bad breath can signal more serious dental or health problems so if the smell persists, see your dentist or doctor.

They believe that a natural remedy is a better, healthier form of treatment than using artificial or chemical-based substances especially as treatment for healthier teeth and gums, and defense against dental health problems. Considered to be the original and traditional approach to medicine, using a natural remedy is the oldest form of medicine and is still considered by many to be the best way to treat the body that may not cause health problems. Simply put, natural remedy treatments are natural ways to better health.

It is a no-false that gum disease can threaten the heart as research and studies show. The disease in which bacteria infect the gums and bones supporting the teeth can cause gums to separate from the teeth and from pockets. Scientists had thought that gum disease was a risk factor for heart disease and in fact, researchers have linked the severity of the condition to the likelihood of symptoms. A study presented at the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting suggests that the bacteria present in gum disease may trigger blood clots which can contribute to a heart attack or stroke. The result should encourage the people who might be at at-risk for cardiovascular disease or have signs of gum disease to consult with a dentist experienced with treating periodontal disease. Regular periodontal screening and evaluations, treatment and professional maintenance are critical to long term management of periodontal disease. More and more recent studies about gum disease reveal how the disease makes the worst of human health.

When bacteria in the gums multiply, a life-threatening dental problem called periodontal disease creates a short way down to bodywide inflammation leading massive oral destruction and serious medical issues. (...)

When bacteria in the gums multiply, a life-threatening dental problem called periodontal disease creates a short way down to bodywide inflammation leading massive oral destruction and serious medical issues. The proliferation of bacteria in the mouth that leads to periodontal disease is caused by certain factors. One is smoking which can slow down the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the gum tissue and delays healing, meaning even a small amount of bacteria can quickly become a periodontal disease. Genetics also play a big role as reports showed that up to 30 percent of the population may be genetically more susceptible to gum disease like with some inherited conditions, such as Down syndrome and Marfan syndrome, a higher likelihood of periodontal disease is at stake. Another thing is stress. People who have high levels of chronic stress produce more of the hormone cortisol, which has been linked to gum disease. Periodontal disease and diabetes make an unfortunate circle. Diabetics have a higher risk for developing infections, including periodontal diseases. An infection, such as periodontal disease, can impair the ability to process or utilize insulin, which may cause diabetes to be more difficult to control and infection to be more severe. Poor nutrition among people who consume less than the recommended dietary allowance for calcium and vitamin C have slightly higher rates of periodontal disease. This is probably related to the tissue's ability to heal itself.

We can refer mouth gum disease as the inflammation or swelling of the gum tissues. (...)

We can refer mouth gum disease as the inflammation or swelling of the gum tissues. This has become a serious condition suffered by many people as it can cause destruction of tissues that support the teeth and eventually leads to tooth loss. The bacteria present in the mouth that feed from food debris are the ones responsible for mouth gum disease as these bad bacteria produce harmful toxins and creates plaque. Early treatment should be done as it is a necessity to keep mouth gum disease in check. Superior oral hygiene should be prioritized - cleaning the mouth and killing the bacteria that causes plaque. This should be done with proper and regular brushing and flossing, and having regular dental visits to the dentists. These dental health care routine can also be helped by using a good choice of mouthwash that effectively kills bacteria causing dental problems.

To treat periodontal disease, the use of laser has been considered effective by many periodontists and dentists. The use of laser substitutes the traditional treatment involving cutting the gum tissue which has been a very painful procedure that often involves narcotic painkillers and recovery time. Using the laser has the ability to destroy the bacteria that causes periodontal disease without damaging the tissue. It was found to be a procedure that results to less pain, less bleeding and less swelling for periodontal disease patients. Aside from destroying the bacteria, periodontal disease treatment using laser also cleanses the teeth, remove dead tissue and clot the area, and also whitens it.

Any disease or illness needs treatment as soon as possible before it gets into complication. When it comes to treatment of periodontal disease, the sooner the better - before periodontitis, the advanced stage of a life-threatening gum disease strikes and starts your misery. Plaque build-up is the major cause of gum disease as it is made up of bacteria that can cause to irritate the gums, making them bright red, tender, swollen, sensitive, and bleed readily. Stop massive oral damage and eventual tooth loss before it's too late. Superior oral hygiene should be given priority - regular brushing and flossing, proper diet and regular dental checkups. Quitting smoking and alcohol and using a good choice of mouthwash are great help to achieve and maintain healthy mouth.

Bad breath takes a massive attack on the population, becoming a serious social problem for many people regardless of age and status in life. Bad breath is a common concern not only in adults but also in children especially among adolescents resulting to embarrassing situations often with social consequences. Halitosis is the medical term for bad breath. One natural way of cleansing the mouth is through the regular flow of saliva washing bacteria away from the surfaces of the oral cavity. This helps reduce your case of bad breath. In fighting bad breath in children, it should be started at home by the parent's constant advice on proper oral health care or dental hygiene - regular brushing, flossing, proper diet, no alcohol abuse and awareness from tobacco effects and smoking, and regular dental visits.
