Choose Bad Breath Product With Care!!

If you find that your bad breath product just does not seem to be really eliminating the problem, then you are not addressing the underlying problem. The actual causes of bad breath can vary significantly but the most common is bacteria. There are literally dozens of different types of bacteria living inside of your mouth at any given time. Within minutes of brushing, these oral flora will begin to repopulate. Some of the flora are actually beneficial while others, like the anaerobic variety, will cause infections and chronic bad breath.

If you look on most bad breath products, a common ingredient you are likely to find is alcohol. In truth, alcohol is considered toxic by your body. We get hangovers and a really bad case of dry mouth and bad breath because the liver is removing the alcohol from your body and using a lot of water to do so. The headache, halitosis, and nausea we associate with a hangover is really the physiological effects of severe dehydration. Aside from alcohol, there are a number of activities and products that can cause bad breath due to dry mouth, including:

  • Caffeine
  • Stimulants like those found in diet pills and laxatives
  • Excessive exercise
  • Low carbohydrate diet
  • Medication (antidepressants, pain killers, and high blood pressure pills may cause dehydration)
  • Bad breath remedies made with harsh chemicals like alcohol

A dry mouth is an excellent environment for the anaerobic bacteria to multiply rapidly. The bacteria themselves do cause halitosis-their excrement does. Known as Volatile Sulfur Compounds, or VSC's, these bacteria waste products are the true causes of chronic bad breath. To lower the number of VSC's in the mouth and prevent halitosis, you need to reduce the anaerobic bacteria population.

The saliva in your mouth is enriched with oxygen which helps to naturally slow the reproductive rates of anaerobic bacteria. Saliva also contains these special enzymes that help create antibodies that neutralize microorganisms and stop bad breath. Plus, when you swallow, the food particles and VSC's themselves are removed. While not a cure for bad breath, saliva is certainly essential in helping to control the problem throughout the day. Therefore, be sure to avoid any behavior or bad breath remedy made with chemicals that may cause dry mouth and lowered salivation rates.

Bad breath products need to contain some form of antiseptic or antibacterial agent. However, you need to avoid any bad breath toothpaste or other product made with chemicals. To avoid dry mouth and bad breath problems, be sure to seek out organic products made with essential oils like:

  • Spearmint oil
  • Peppermint oil
  • Almond oil
  • Lime oil

Bad breath prevention includes brushing and flossing two or more times a day and in between meals whenever possible. A bad breath product made with essential oils like those listed above is preferred because it will control the anaerobic bacteria without causing dry mouth and lowered salivation rates. If you are looking for a safe and effective bad breath product made with essential oils that will sweeten breath while controlling bacteria, then try OraMD® now!
